Thank you for this thorough and clear analysis. I agree with it wholeheartedly. I also believe that the whole of our society is denying another real threat to our existence--the killing of our planet. By denying the evidence we are currently experiencing, we are creating a psycho/spiritual crisis that foments madness of all kinds. Including the dynamics you so clearly describe. White Supremacy predates the current crisis, of course, but I cannot help but feel the White Patriarchy is trying to regroup and control the rest of us in response to an unacknowledged threat. I am sorry if I am not expressing this clearly. This is the first time I have tried to share these thoughts. Thank you again, my friend for creating a place we can exchange ideas. As far as being afraid of young white boys, who could blame you? I am reminded of a client who told me that when she became anxious and afraid in SF, she parked her car, and rode the busses. This was years ago. She said when she rode with all the other folks, it calmed her down. That she remembered she was part of the community. I am an old woman. After the pandemic, it is getting harder to find places to be in community with a diversity of people, but when I can it helps me feel safer. Love to you my friend and a deep bow of respect for your work.
This is such a thorough breakdown of all these dynamics--thank you. Definitely resonated with "not my (white) son" dynamic in my social circles and "they are all our sons" (because I have no sons and I feel a similar terror with young white males especially because my daughter is indigenous). I was thinking about this dynamic the other day of who will talk to these young men?? Who can reach them??
Thank you Marissa. This is the huge issue right? We all have to take responsibility or no one will. We know that these evil acts are because of white supremacy culture but no one wants to acknowledge or accept that we are all part of it. AND.... I found myself thinking of each of the shootings as individual incidents and with Buffalo, I said this is an epidemic. Let us go upstream to explore it. And I just thought of so many incidents where white teenage boys are not held accountable. White People have to reach their own. Thank you so much for being part of my orbit.
Hi Iyabo, I am reading closely. I am sharing with other mother’s of white teenage boys. More to come. I still have not finished. Thank you for speaking.

It is an epidemic. And I am going to explore more ways I can take responsibility in my ecosystem. Honored to be here.
